Virgin Australia announces – domestic air travel turning point
Virgin Australia announced that some of its most popular and important pre-Christmas domestic passenger services will resume, following changes to NSW border restrictions.
They are:
- November 23, Virgin Australia will move to operate four return services per day between Sydney-Melbourne and progressively increase frequencies ahead of the Christmas Holidays.
- By Christmas, Virgin Australia will have more than 20,000 seats per week available for booking between Sydney-Melbourne. Customers from Victoria will also be able to connect to regional NSW destinations such as Ballina Byron and Coffs Harbour.
- Virgin Australia will also bring forward the reintroduction of four-times weekly services between Melbourne and Newcastle from 15 December to 24 November when the border reopens.
- With the ACT Government expected to follow New South Wales, Virgin Australia has increased frequencies between Melbourne-Canberra to four-times weekly from 23 November.
Talking about the increase in services a Virgin Australia Group Spokesman said they “will help to restore confidence in the tourism and aviation sectors and provide certainty in terms of jobs and our ability to increase flying.
“An open border between New South Wales and Victoria allows us to bring more of our team members back to work and gives customers the ability to do business, reunite with loved ones, friends and family.
“It is a turning point for the Sydney-Melbourne route, which was once the second busiest in the world.
“We will also bring forward the reintroduction of services between Melbourne and Newcastle from 15 December to 24 November when the border reopens”.
