Surviving Sydney lockdown: Calling homeschool heroes!

Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour: Families can win a voucher or family stay when they submit kids homeschool art

With at least a sixth week of lockdown on the cards for Greater Sydney, it’s clear that parents are the true miracle workers of this moment. From making WFH arrangements, homeschooling children and managing a household now at constant capacity.

That’s why Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour has decided to turn on a little light at the end of this long, winding tunnel, and will be calling out a ‘HomeSchool Hero’ every day for the next two weeks.

Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour is calling out kids (via their parents) to submit by email or Instagram, their best piece of homework each day, to go into the draw to win daily $100 vouchers and an all-inclusive-family holiday. Homeschool homework can include anything from drawings, paintings or stories, to practice maths tests or their ABC’s.

Crowne Plaza’s General Manager (and top dad) Eugene Human, will be judge and jury on the best piece of homework for the day and will select the daily winners (with the help from Eli and Nevea)

On the initiative, Eugene said, “Running a hotel while at the same time homeschooling two kids is not easy. And that’s putting it very politely. Parents around the country that are doing homeschool at the moment, we salute you.

“We know it’s tough, a lot of us at the hotel are doing it ourselves, and that’s why we want to give back and give you something to look forward to. Plus we wanted to have a bit of fun with it at the same time. My Eli is no Picasso and I don’t claim to be any sort of critic (or genius), but kids, send us your best piece of work for the day and let’s see if we can put a smile on your parents face.”

Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour’s Homeschool Hero will run through August 2, and submissions can be sent to [email protected] or via @crowneplazasydney

The Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour is located in the centre of Sydney’s CBD, close to everything the city has to offer and an ideal spot for a weekend escape or staycation, family outing or central hub from which to explore the city. Guests can also enjoy its exceptional options for drinks and dining, including La Bella Trattoria Restaurant and Bar, TWO 88 Bar & Kitchen and Café 58.
