The investment is transforming every corner of the landmark Victoria Square hotel. A dramatic new grand lobby and arrival experience leads the way. Every guest room, dining venue and event space is being reimagined in stages through to mid-2027.

The result is Adelaide’s largest hotel, with 380 rooms and suites, including 212 twin rooms, the most in the city. Four dining and bar venues celebrate South Australian produce and wine: COAL Cellar + Grill, Victoria’s Table, Sun Orchid Lounge and Collins Bar.

The hotel has Adelaide’s largest pillar-free hotel ballroom, making Amora the only five-star hotel in the city able to host 500 delegates under one roof. Through its continued partnership with Encore, Amora has invested in three 5.5m x 3m track-mounted LED screens, the largest in the state, which can be repositioned meet a wide range of conference and event requirements.

The transformation is led by Cottee Parker Architects, and the design ethos is grounded in Amora Hotel Adelaide’s iconic location, known to the Kaurna people as Tarntanyangga, and has been a meeting place for thousands of years. The design embraces that spirit of gathering.

Throughout, the design draws on South Australia’s natural landscape from rolling hills to the morning mist over the Murray and caramel sunsets, most strongly referenced in the newly released Amora King suites, and soon to be rolled out across all categories.

Works commissioned from artists of the APY Lands bring the stories of South Australia into the hotel. A Welcome Written in Country, the large-scale commission by Anita Pumani, positioned behind reception featuring concentric gathering circles evoking waterways and places of connection, reflecting Tarntanyangga’s enduring significance as a place of meeting, exchange and welcome.

Other state-of-the-art facilities complete the investment to include a heated outdoor pool, gym and Executive Lounge, with a new sauna, steam room and plunge pools to come.

For Adelaide, this transformation returns a much-loved address to the heart of city life, with the Adelaide Central Market redevelopment next door and many of the city’s leading festivals and events just steps away.

Blending luxury accommodation with exceptional lifestyle amenities, including an on-site tennis court and convenient tram connections to Adelaide’s cultural attractions, entertainment and picturesque Riverbank precinct, Amora Hotel Adelaide offers the perfect balance of relaxation, recreation and urban discovery.

Few stories capture the hotel’s place in Adelaide like Atef Youssif’s. He joined in 1989, his first job after arriving in South Australia from Egypt. Thirty-seven years on, the COAL Cellar + Grill sommelier is one of many South Australians whose careers have grown here.

Earlier today, The Hon. Peter Malinauskas MP, Premier of South Australia, officially launched Amora Hotel Adelaide. This evening, the hotel will welcome more than 300 members of Adelaide’s community to celebrate the launch of this iconic address.

Earp Siriphatrawan, Chief Executive Officer, Amora Hotels and Resorts, said:

“Amora began in Melbourne in 1997, founded on the vision of my late father, Dr Tanapun Siriphatrawan. As we approach our 30th anniversary, we continue to build on that vision, combining our Australian roots with our Thai heritage. Our A$200 million investment in Adelaide is an important milestone for the group and reflects our confidence in the city and our long-term commitment to South Australia’s tourism industry.”

The Hon. Peter Malinauskas MP, Premier of South Australia, said:

“This significant investment is another vote of confidence in South Australia’s booming visitor economy and our growing reputation as a world-class destination.

“From Gather Round to MotoGP, we have a growing calendar of major evets and redeveloping one of Adelaide’s major hotels ensures we have the quality accommodation needed to bring even more visitors to our state.”
