Choice Hotels Asia-Pac Partners with Alannah & Madeline Foundation
Alannah & Madeline Foundation are dedicated to keeping children and young people free from violence and trauma
Choice Hotels Asia-Pac is proud to announce its official charity partnership with national not-for-profit organisation, Alannah & Madeline Foundation who are dedicated to keeping children and young people free from violence and trauma wherever they live, learn and play.
As Official Partner of the Foundation, the leading hotel group will support the charity’s crucial work through a range of fundraising, volunteering, and educational initiatives, helping provide children and young people who have experienced violence or trauma to recover, heal and grow.
To launch the partnership, Choice Hotels Asia-Pac will host a “Check-in for Charity” fundraising week this August. During the fundraising week Choice Hotels Asia-Pac will support the Foundation by donating $2 from every Australian accommodation stay between August 12 and 18, 2024.
Additional initiatives under the partnership will include further fundraising opportunities (including Alannah & Madeline Day on 17 September and the Foundation’s Christmas Appeal), volunteering activities (Choice Hotels staff will pack Buddy Bags containing personal care needs and comforting items for children in emergency care), and the chance for Choice Hotels staff and guests to learn about the Foundation’s work through speaking events and more.
“At Choice Hotels, we are committed to environmental and social initiatives that improve the communities in which we operate,” Choice Hotels Asia-Pac’s CEO Trent Fraser said.
“We’re honoured to be able to support the Alannah and Madeline Foundation’s important work through our ‘Check-in for Charity’ week. Whether our guests are travelling for business or pleasure, their stays during this time will help the Foundation achieve its mission.”
Alannah & Madeline Foundation CEO Sarah Davies welcomed the partnership with Choice Hotels Asia-Pac: “We are delighted to welcome Choice Hotels Asia Pac as a corporate partner to the Foundation. We share the same values: the belief that helping children and young people live free from violence and trauma is of utmost importance.
With the support of Choice Hotels, their franchisees, and customers, together we can make positive change for vulnerable children.”
Reservations for Choice Hotels Asia-Pac’s ‘Check-in for Charity’ fundraising week can be made via the Choice Hotels’ website and mobile app. Members and guests can book the promotion as many times as they’d like during the promotional timeframe.
About the Alannah & Madeline Foundation
The Alannah & Madeline Foundation was founded 27 years ago by Walter Mikac AM, and a small group of volunteers in memory of Walter’s young daughters Alannah and Madeline Mikac, aged just six and three, who tragically lost their lives along with their mother and 32 others at Port Arthur in Tasmania on 28 April 1996. The Foundation was established with the belief that “all children and young people should be able to live a happy and safe life, free from violence and trauma.
” Our mission continues today through our Care, Prevention and Advocacy programs – we fight for their right to be safe, so their future is strong. www.alannahandmadeline.org.au
