Sun, sand and style: Rendezvous Perth Scarborough’s plans a stunning transformation
Perth’s first and only beachside hotel high rise, Rendezvous Perth Scarborough is getting a multi-million dollar summer glow-up!
Perth’s beloved Rendezvous Perth Scarborough is gearing up for a summer transformation, thanks to a multi-million-dollar refresh led by owners, Far East Orchard.
This rolling two-year renovation will elevate the guest experience with 330 fully refreshed hotel rooms, a reimagined front entrance, upgraded conference spaces, and additional works planned for an enhanced pool area set to dazzle beachside visitors.
TFE Hotels’ WA Regional General Manager, Warwick Kahl, shared that design studio U Studio drew inspiration from the hotel’s breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, crafting a beach-inspired theme. “The carpets reflect the swash of the Indian Ocean as it reaches the Scarborough shoreline, whilst the newly painted walls imitate the colours of the dunes in the early morning,” he said.

Balconies are also being rejuvenated, with new furniture slated for early next year.
Guests will enjoy spacious rooms featuring marble-topped credenzas, dedicated luggage areas, 55” wall-mounted TVs with streaming capabilities, and modern soft furnishings and artwork.
Kahl emphasises that the upgraded rooms merely complement Scarborough’s natural charm. The rooms naturally take a back seat to Scarborough’s dazzling sunsets, surf, and gorgeous beach – one of Perth’s longest uninterrupted stretches of sand – which Kahl says are a must-do on any visit to Australia’s sunniest capital.
“With the recent $100M revitalisation to the bustling Scarborough foreshore, there are loads of activities for tourists and locals alike,” he said. “People come from all over for the Scarborough Sunset Markets. During this time, Scarborough is transformed into a hive of activity with pop-up bars, food vans, craft stalls, and live music.”
“The sunsets, surf, and sweeping sands of Scarborough Beach are a must-see, especially as the vibrant Scarborough Sunset Markets bring a festive buzz to the foreshore.”
With Scarborough’s recent $100M revitalisation, the foreshore offers something for everyone – from pop-up bars, food trucks, and live music, to playgrounds, skate parks, and sports facilities. For thrill-seekers, there’s the Snake Pit skate area and a climbing wall for all ages.
The recent addition of Solace Day Spa enriches the hotel’s offerings, with treatment rooms, ice baths, and saunas available for summer visitors.
A place with history, Rendezvous Perth Scarborough – once Observation City – was developed in 1986 by the late tycoon Alan Bond, who envisioned it as a landmark for events like the America’s Cup. Today, it continues to deliver with highlights like the Mentelle Deck and the popular Film Club, relaunching December 5.
As a nod to the past, iconic Instagram spots – like Michael Jackson’s Baby Grand Piano (in the Lobby Bar) and Bondy’s red binoculars (on Level 25) – will remain in the refresh, with the hotel’s Executive General Manager, Rhys Challenger, saying they were firm favourites with guests.
