voco Maroochydore: Sunshine Coast’s first voco Hotel to open for 2032 Olympics
Positioned on Ocean Street, the hotel will be part of a transformative mixed-use development designed to attract both domestic and international visitors
IHG Hotels & Resorts has unveiled plans to open the first voco hotel on the Sunshine Coast, signing an agreement with Felix Capital for the upcoming voco Maroochydore Sunshine Coast, set to open in 2028.
This 153-room property will add much-needed four- and five-star accommodation options to the region, bolstering Maroochydore’s appeal ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Positioned on Ocean Street, voco Maroochydore will be part of a transformative mixed-use development designed to attract both domestic and international visitors.
The hotel’s offering will be extensive, with locally inspired rooms featuring water views, a specialty 140-seat restaurant, a 65-seat lobby bar, and wellness-oriented public areas, including an outdoor pool, spa, and sauna.
For the Sunshine Coast’s tourism and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) industries, voco Maroochydore is a timely addition. In line with the Sunshine Coast’s Temporary Local Planning Instrument aimed at addressing the region’s growing need for premium hotels, the development also includes over 510sqm of flexible event spaces, a ballroom for up to 250 guests, and a 130-seat all-day dining restaurant and pool bar, providing a versatile destination for both business and leisure.
Cameron Burke, Director of Development for Australasia & Pacific at IHG Hotels & Resorts, highlighted the significance of the project: “This is an incredibly exciting time for the Sunshine Coast. Hotel developments like voco Maroochydore will play a vital role in stimulating the local economy, while enhancing the enviable coastal lifestyle that Maroochydore locals enjoy. We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Felix Capital and expand our presence in this strategic market.”
The hotel marks IHG’s second collaboration with Felix Capital, following the signing of Holiday Inn & Suites Caloundra, Sunshine Coast, earlier this year. Michael Maroun, CEO and Founder of Felix Capital, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership and its impact: “This new hotel project will not only create hundreds of jobs but also showcase Maroochydore’s vibrant attractions. Our close work with the Sunshine Coast Council reflects our commitment to supporting the region’s growth trajectory, aligning with key planning instruments.”
Conveniently located a little over an hour’s drive from Brisbane, voco Maroochydore promises guests an array of experiences, from tranquil poolside relaxation to hosting memorable events.
This signing underlines IHG’s continued expansion into regional Australia, showcasing the versatility of its voco brand, known for its thoughtful touches and warm hospitality.
With voco properties now spanning 18 countries, voco Maroochydore further strengthens IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Premium portfolio in Australia, alongside voco Gosford, which is set to open in 2025. The hotel’s unique appeal lies in the voco brand’s charm, where guests can expect welcoming service, lively social spaces, and comforting amenities such as cosy beds, luxurious bathroom products, and high-speed Wi-Fi.
IHG Hotels & Resorts and Felix Capital’s latest venture will be a valuable addition to the Sunshine Coast, positioning voco Maroochydore as a premier choice for travellers seeking a blend of leisure and luxury in a scenic coastal destination.
