Once-in-a-generation hotel portfolio hits the market in New Zealand
Rare opportunity! The largest and most comprehensive portfolio of investment-grade hotels ever brought to market in New Zealand.
In a milestone moment for New Zealand’s hotel and investment landscape, NZ Hotel Holdings (NZHH) has announced the sale of its entire nationwide portfolio—the largest hotel portfolio ever brought to market in the country.
This landmark offering includes seven high-profile assets strategically located in key tourism and business centres: Four Points by Sheraton, QT Auckland, and Adina Apartment Hotel Britomart in Auckland; Rydges Rotorua; Rydges Wellington; Sofitel Queenstown Hotel and Spa; and BreakFree on Cashel in Christchurch.

The portfolio is being marketed by CBRE’s Michael Simpson, Peter Hamilton and Nick Hill via an international expressions of interest campaign, closing 4pm NZST on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

Formed in 2019, NZHH is a partnership between the NZ Super Fund, Russell Property Group, and Lockwood Property Group. The group was established to strengthen New Zealand’s tourism infrastructure through investment in high-quality accommodation assets.

According to NZHH Chief Executive Marcus Reinders, the timing of the sale aligns with strong market fundamentals and renewed international interest.

“With tourism now back on a growth curve, strong market fundamentals, and increased international interest, the opportunity is here to pass on the portfolio to an investor seeking scale, geographic diversity, and holistic coverage of New Zealand’s key tourism markets,” Reinders said.
The government’s backing of the tourism sector—once the nation’s largest export earner—further boosts the portfolio’s appeal. New campaigns targeting key growth markets such as India, China, and the USA, paired with increased sector funding, are expected to drive visitation and hotel demand.
Michael Simpson, Managing Director of CBRE Hotels Pacific, said: “This is the largest and most comprehensive portfolio of investment grade hotels ever brought to market in New Zealand.

“New Zealand is an aspirational travel destination, world-renowned for its stunning natural landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage. The portfolio offers expansive coverage of all of New Zealand’s major markets, with the portfolio hotels appealing to business and leisure travelers across all market segments.”
NZHH’s partners have already completed the hard work—structuring, seismically strengthening, and positioning the assets as world-class investments—making the portfolio ready for its next chapter.

The scale, quality, and diversity of this offering is expected to generate strong interest from both domestic and international investors looking to capitalise on New Zealand’s post-pandemic tourism resurgence.
