Tech trends: What guests expect from hotels in 2025

WorldVue whitepaper reveals the must-have technologies shaping guest satisfaction and loyalty across the Asia–Pacific region.

A newly released report from hospitality specialist WorldVue lays bare the technology demands that will define traveller expectations in 2025.

As guest expectations soar, a new whitepaper from WorldVue is urging accommodation providers across Australia to future-proof their offerings with guest-facing technology.

The Oceania Guest Technology Trends 2025 report draws on surveys from thousands of hotel guests across the Asia–Pacific region. It identifies a clear shift: travellers are no longer satisfied with basic comfort and friendly service alone. They now expect fast, seamless connectivity, personalised digital experiences, and sustainable technology integrated into their stay.

Top of the list is high-speed wifi, with more than 90 percent of respondents ranking it as their most critical in-room need. Inadequate internet access, the report notes, is a deal-breaker for both business and leisure travellers.

The research also highlights growing demand for smart room features, such as app-controlled lighting and temperature, real-time energy usage displays, and voice-activated assistants. Guests increasingly view these technologies as standard, not premium add-ons.

Contactless check-in, mobile keys, and AI-powered chat tools are also becoming non-negotiable. Guests want the ability to bypass the front desk, unlock their room with a tap of their phone, and make service requests through intuitive digital platforms. These tools not only streamline the guest experience but also reduce the workload for staff.

In-room entertainment expectations are evolving too. Travellers are looking for streaming services, gaming options, and media platforms that mirror or exceed their home setups. This includes smart TVs with app integration, Bluetooth sound systems, and access to on-demand local content.

WorldVue argues that 2025 marks a critical juncture for hoteliers. The rise of the tech-savvy, environmentally conscious traveller means hotels must go beyond superficial upgrades. The report outlines that properties adopting these digital enhancements are already seeing improved guest satisfaction scores as well as operational efficiencies.
