Australians aren’t just swiping locally—they’re looking worldwide for connection, according to Tinder’s Year in Swipe™ 2025 report.
The app’s Passport feature, which allows users to change their location and match anywhere in the world, continues to grow in popularity, with Aussies sending sparks flying from the Gold Coast to Los Angeles.
Domestically, the most-popular cities to Passport™ to were Gold Coast, Melbourne and Brisbane, followed by Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Cairns, Townsville, Sunshine Coast and Darwin. Internationally, Aussies looked most often to the United States, New Zealand, Philippines, India, Japan, China and France, with Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo topping the list of global cities.

The Year in Swipe™ report also highlights how dating behaviour has shifted in 2025. Young singles are favouring clarity over confusion, emotional honesty over mixed signals, and low-stress connection over overthinking.
Tinder says trends like Clear-Coding (stating intentions upfront), Hot-Take Dating (matching on shared values), Friendfluence (friends guiding dating decisions) and Emotional Vibe Coding (focusing on emotional availability) are shaping how people date heading into 2026.

According to the report, 64 percent of young singles believe dating needs more emotional honesty, while 76 percent would use AI to help with bio prompts, photo selection or date ideas.
With global destinations trending and daters more open and self-assured than ever, Tinder says 2026 is shaping up to be the year of clearer intentions and more confident connection.
