Bayview Bay Apartments

“We have already made heaps of changes and have plans for many more. For example, we are currently encouraging all the owners to put in air conditioning and Foxtel. We also have plans for massive landscape renovations to redesign the gardens. That’s just the tip of it, we have lots in the pipeline.”

Rebecca and Matthew McCarthy are no strangers to the management rights industry.

Rebecca’s parents owned Blue Water Apartments in Labrador and she has assisted with the running of the property.

“I have been in the industry for nearly nine years. I was at Blue Water Apartment running our family business. That was my first introduction to the management rights industry. When we sold the management rights to Blue Waters, I was employed at Aegean Apartments in Surfers Paradise as a front office receptionist. I was at Aegean for about one-and-a-half years before going to Bay of Palms Resort in Elanora and working there in the front office for about a year. After my time at Bay of Palms Resort I decided I wanted to be in Surfers Paradise again and was employed at Focus Apartments doing front and back office duties. I left Focus Apartments to take over Bayview Bay Apartments.”

Matthew is a bricklayer by trade but has had experience in the management rights industry through doing maintenance at all of the properties Rebecca has worked at. “Matt is a keen gardener and enjoys keeping the pool and spa maintained and doing the required maintenance in the apartments. He is also very handy on a paint brush!

“What attracted us to Bayview Bay was the location, we love the Runaway Bay area and since managing Blue Waters, we have a lot of experience in the northern end of the Gold Coast. Also, we loved the size of Bayview Bay; 53 apartments with about a half and half mix of holiday and permanent lets.

“We were initiated into the building by overbooking the Christmas period. Although this was a very stressful time, it allowed us an excuse to make contact with all the managers in the surrounding complexes because we were sourcing alternative accommodation for our guests.

“In the past we have made some great friendships by helping other managers and them helping us. We hope to develop great friendships again with other managers experiencing similar thing. Once contact is made, it enables us to offer alternative accommodation to guests if we are fully booked and if the other managers do the same.”

What makes Bayview Bay Apartments unique is it is placed in a pleasant tropical garden setting with its own marina. Located in Runaway Bay and situated on a canal just off the Broadwater, the property features 53 self-contained apartments, salt-water pool, heated spa, barbeque area and a private marina with berthing bays available for hire.

The three-storey walk-up apartment complex is home to 53 two-bedroom apartments. All of the apartments either have balconies or garden courtyards while all of them feature a spacious open plan living area opening onto the balcony or courtyard, ceiling or floor fans, a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave oven, wall oven and refrigerator. Each has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and en suite shower/toilet. The second bedroom has two single beds and a separate bathroom/laundry and a separate toilet. All of the apartments have a maximum occupancy of six persons.
