The Burlington Holiday Apartments

Almost four years ago now, Don and Nelda Beveridge bought the management rights to Maroochydore’s iconic The Burlington Holiday Apartments.

Previously, Don worked in a management position for RACQ Technical Services while Nelda has been in the management rights industry for several years, having previously managed a permanent complex in Ormiston.

She said they originally entered the industry to reap the benefits of being able to work from home.

“When we first entered the industry in 2002 with the property in Ormiston, a secure gated complex consisting of 62 three- and four-bedroom stand alone houses, we were looking for a change in direction and wanted the flexibility of being able to work from home.

Management rights certainly offered both and we have learnt a great deal since joining the industry and doubt we will ever stop learning something new.”

When it came to moving to the Sunshine Coast, Don said they considered Maroochydore because they had prior knowledge of the area and liked the location.

“Our eldest son was part of the Maroochy Surf Life Saving Club at the time and we were very familiar with the area and what it had to offer. School for our second son was also a consideration and the location gave us ready access to a number of choices. Though the area has changed a great deal since we first started holidaying here over ten years ago, it still has a certain charm and relatively un-spoilt feel to it that attracts guests wanting to escape hectic lifestyles. Being a smaller boutique style complex we find we have more one on one time with our guests, many of whom refer to The Burlington as their home away from home.”

Upgrades are the never ending story

The Burlington Holiday Apartments is an impressive four level building on Sixth Avenue in Maroochydore. Built in 1994, the property is now 16 years old and Don and Nelda have continually worked at upgrading the building and apartments since purchasing the management rights.

Currently, the property is receiving a rejuvenating face lift.

“At the moment repainting of the building is almost complete and we have also had the membrane on the rooftop sundeck areas replaced,” Nelda said.

Don said, “This repaint and membrane replacement completes a number of previous projects including pool equipment upgrade, garage door replacement and replacement of fire door frames where required.”

The Burlington Holiday Apartments is home to 16 fully self-contained one and two-bedroom apartments. Each one is beautifully appointed with every possible feature to make a guest’s stay enjoyable and relaxing.

All of the apartments feature, colour television (almost all now upgraded to widescreen LCD’s), DVD players, some with VCR’s, free cable television complete with sports and movie channels, fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher and convection microwave, laundry with washing machine and clothes drier, screens and ceiling fans, en suites (to some apartments), direct dial telephones, dial-up Internet access, security intercom and linen serviced weekly. All but one apartment is air-conditioned.

Each apartment has a north-easterly aspect to capture the warmth of the winter sun and cool sea breezes off the Pacific Ocean and comes complete with a balcony offering views over the heated swimming pool and tropical gardens.

There are three rooftop apartments. These have access to their own private and exclusive use outdoor sundeck areas with barbeque facilities and sea views.

Other facilities in the complex include a heated saltwater swimming pool, barbeque facilities and security underground car park.
