Rydges plans big expansion
Rydges Hotels and Resorts plans to build at least five new hotels in state capitals, according to managing director of Rydges owner Amalgamated Holdings David Seargeant.
He said the properties would operate under its three-star Abode brand catering to business travellers while cinema sites owned by AH on Russell St in Melbourne and Murray St in Perth would likely be developed into boutique hotels under the company’s 4½-star QT brand.
Mr Seargeant said Rydges’ QT hotel in the State Theatre building on Sydney’s Market Street would open on 17 September.
There are also plans to develop an Abode hotel in Blacktown in Sydney’s west.
