Gold Coast business offered for sale
One of the Gold Coast’s best known tourism operations comprising four separate businesses has been placed on the market for the first time in a multi-million dollar offering.
Founded by the well known Nicholls family, the businesses comprise the McLaren’s Landing Island Paradise resort on South Stradbroke Island, Gold Coast Island Adventures featuring a paraflying speed boat, 4WD Eco Island tours and Segway tours, a whale watching operation and a 32m high speed catamaran for 280 guests.
Marketed by Resort Brokers Australia the sale also includes Tallship Sailing Cruises incorporating a traditional three masted Brigantine Tallship, Sir Henry Morgan which is licensed to carry 70 passengers and can accommodate 14 guests overnight.
Ian Dore, Resort Brokers Gold Coast and northern NSW manager, said the sale offered a rare opportunity to tap into the rich potential of the region’s tourism industry. “This is an expanding business with strong links to the in-bound Asian market,” he said.
McLaren’s Landing Island Paradise does not provide accommodation but offers a unique experience which is a short, calm-water cruise away from the mainland with a strong focus on the MICE – meetings, incentives, conferences and events – market.
The property has the capacity to accommodate up to 2500 guests at a time day or night on the beach or in bush surroundings and comprises an outdoor venue that includes cocktail bars, food stations, three permanent pavilions and an open-air area.
The business deals directly with a Chinese travel wholesaler in an arrangement involving 1000 guests per month and expects to expand its business in China significantly. It also has a direct booking arrangement with the Japanese market and a contract with a Korean wholesaler.
The entire property is fully licensed, allowing function organisers complete flexibility in their use of its venues.
