Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards announced and Sunshine Coast dominates
Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat has been named the World’s Top Hotel for Romance in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards
Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat in Montville was not only named Australia’s most romantic hotel, but it also topped the list of Top 25 Hotels for Romance in the World, ahead of famed competitors from Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa. Meanwhile, another Sunshine Coast gem Element on Coolum Beach was crowned the Top Hotel in Australia for 2021.
Sunshine Coast’s boutique hotels dominated Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards for Top Hotels for Romance. In fact, Sunshine Coast boutique hotels took out the top three positions in the Top 25 Hotels for Romance in Australia: Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat, Bli Bli House Riverside Retreat and The Falls Montville, while Bli Bli House was also third in the list of the world’s most romantic hotels. Tripadvisor released its annual Travellers’ Choice Awards for Hotels.
Visit Sunshine Coast CEO, Matt Stoeckel said: “What these awards show is that you don’t have to be big and grand to be the best. What clearly resonates most with travellers is the experience, the connection with the landscape, and the hosts who deliver the hospitality.
“What is common with all the hotels that were recognised in these awards is the ‘personal touch’, the attention to detail, and delivery of a memorable stay.
“Never before has the need to rejuvenate and revitalise been so important for travellers. These retreats and B&Bs are very often in stunning locations, where nature is at the fore of the experience, and the hotel operators do everything they can to connect their guests with the environment – whether it is exploring the local area, finding outstanding restaurants, markets or galleries, or just providing a sanctuary where they can make the most of their precious escape.
“It has obviously been a very difficult year for all accommodation operators on the Sunshine Coast, so this is just reward for their resilience and dedication to providing the ultimate service.”
The online travel company awards are based on the millions of reviews from Tripadvisor’s global community of travellers, in other words they reflect the hotels that people raved about in 2020.
TripAdvisor awarded hotels in 10 subcategories. In addition to the Top Overall Hotels (in Australia, the South Pacific, World, and other regions) and a variety of hotel and B&B verticals, it also introduced four brand-new categories: Hottest New Hotels, Top Rooftop Hotels, Safari Stays and Picture-Perfect Hotels.
TripAdvisor confirmed that the biggest win for Australia this year goes to Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat and the overall #1 Hotel in the South Pacific went to Tokoriki Island Resort – who also made it to #25 in the World list, as well as #5 in the South Pacific’s Most Romantic Hotels list.
