Strategically situated along the bustling thoroughfare of The Goods Line urban walkway, Sydney Central enjoys a prime location that seamlessly connects guests to Central Railway Station and the Light Rail network. Nestled within the vibrant Haymarket community, guests are near a plethora of acclaimed theatres, premier food venues, entertainment choices, and iconic landmarks such as the ICC and Darling Harbour, promising an unforgettable urban experience.

With the opening of Sydney Central, Ascott Limited’s total key count in Metropolitan Sydney has reached an impressive 1671, aligning seamlessly with Ascott Australia’s strategic expansion timeline.

This milestone follows the success of previous ventures, including the Citadines Connect Sydney Airport hotel and the Citadines Walker North Sydney hotel.

David Mansfield, Managing Director of Ascott Australia, expressed enthusiasm for the company’s growth trajectory, stating, “Sydney Central marks another exciting chapter of growth for Ascott Australia. We will further capitalise on the dynamic location of Sydney Central by adding a café along The Goods Line and expanding the room count by 72-keys across 8 floors. Our refurbishment will also include accessible rooms and family suites before rebranding the property as Citadines Sydney Central.

Emphasising the importance of strategic expansion, Mr Mansfield highlighted the revitalisation efforts underway in the historic area, transforming it into the Tech Central innovation hub. Ascott’s accelerated expansion strategy aims to cater to evolving guest preferences while contributing to the revitalisation of local communities.

Ascott Australia’s commitment to diversity and innovation is further evidenced by the impending launch of lyf Bondi Junction, a 197-key property encouraging guests to ‘live their freedom,’ and Oakwood Hackney Adelaide, a 72-key aparthotel set to open later in 2024.

Mr Mansfield underscored Ascott’s focus on offering diverse accommodation options in locations with strong demand drivers, stating, “Embedding our properties within local communities where we can offer truly experiential stays is key to Ascott’s growth. As pioneers in the Asia Pacific accommodation market, we see ourselves as more than hoteliers. Ascott teams help guests embrace local communities and unlock hidden gems.”

The launch of Sydney Central also heralds the arrival of Thomas St Kitchen + Bar, offering guests a range of menu options, including a breakfast buffet with barista-made coffee. Moreover, with 12 tailored spaces catering to events ranging from 10 to 300 people, Sydney Central presents an attractive MICE offering, including a ballroom.

The launch of Sydney Central follows the September 2023 opening of Citadines Walker North Sydney, which is set to further enhance its offerings with the introduction of Bar Lettera, a full-service Italo-Australian restaurant and bar in 2024.
