Revamped & Ready: The Village Bondi Beach
With a fresh look and new Loft Rooms, The Village Bondi Beach welcomes guests after major renovation
The Village Bondi Beach has officially reopened its doors after a comprehensive three-month, multi-million-dollar renovation. The 55-room, 158-bed property, located just steps from the iconic Bondi Beach, has been completely remodelled, offering guests a refreshed and elevated experience.
The Village Bondi Beach is the latest property in the Leisure Accommodation Collective (LA Co) portfolio to undergo extensive refurbishment, marking the second major renovation in their series of hostel upgrades across Australia.

LA Co CEO Luke Moran highlighted the significance of the refurbishment, not only in design but in the evolving experience that the hostel now offers.
“The Village Bondi Beach is the next cab off the rank in our multi-million-dollar refurbishment project,” said Moran. “We know that the hostel world is evolving, and guests who stay at The Village are looking for more than just a place to stay. Our program offering has also been revamped to reflect this.”
In response to a recent survey of 1000 Village guests, where 40 percent prioritised outdoor experiences and wellness and another 40 percent sought activities that facilitate meeting new people, The Village Bondi Beach has leaned into activities that make the most of its prime beachside location. This includes hosted walks and yoga sessions by the sea, aligning with Bondi’s well-established wellness scene.
“Bondi Beach is one of the most iconic stretches of sand anywhere in the world, and we want to ensure our guests are really immersed in the landscape and the lifestyle that Bondi offers when they stay with us,” Moran added.
The renovation introduced 23 new Beachside Loft Rooms, offering a variety of queen, double, and single configurations. These rooms feature custom beds raised above compact living spaces, complete with a TV and lounge area, catering to couples and solo travellers seeking privacy.
In addition to the Beachside Loft Rooms, the hostel offers Beachside Private Rooms with queen beds, TVs, storage, and ensuites, as well as Mixed Dorm Rooms in 4-bed and 6-bed configurations. Female-only 4-bed dorms are also available, all featuring custom bunks with personal lights, charger ports, lockable storage, and privacy curtains.
The redesign incorporates a fresh Bondi blue colour palette, with wavy full-length mirrors and photography prints of classic local scenes adorning the rooms and common areas. Every room has been outfitted with new beds, plush bedding, curtains, and linens.
Adding to the artistic flair, Wollongong artist Bodie Jarman has created a large mermaid mural at the building’s entrance, along with creative wayfinding room numbers throughout the hostel.
To celebrate the reopening, The Village Bondi Beach is offering complimentary weekend paella cook-ups and weekly yoga by the sea classes with guest teachers for the next few weeks. Guests are also invited to join a hosted walk on the iconic Bondi to Bronte return loop, which will become a permanent fixture at the hostel.
The Village Bondi Beach aims to redefine the hostel experience for Gen Z and millennial travellers.
LA Co, the owner and operator of The Village brand, currently manages eight properties across Australia, with further renovations planned for the remaining locations over the next year.
In addition to The Village, LA Co owns and operates Drifter, a hybrid hotel concept, with properties in Christchurch, Byron Bay, Wellington, and Auckland set to open over the next few years.
