Designed by leading architecture and design firm Kennedy Nolan, the hotel’s brick-and-masonry exterior pays homage to Melbourne’s historic 19th and early 20th-century buildings while embracing a contemporary aesthetic. The bold, Australian-inspired interior colour scheme features shades of gold, green, pink, and blue, complemented by Jarrah wood and bespoke furnishings. Local art, curated by MARS Gallery, fills each room, creating a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere.
Entry-level Everyday Rooms offer urban views, a complimentary minibar, and a custom-designed Jardan Joy Bear Chair—perfect for unwinding after a nightcap. Urban Rooms elevate the experience with oversized soak tubs and dreamy window lounges, while the Twilight and Horizon Suites include private outdoor balconies and luxurious Aesop amenities.
The culinary offerings, led by hatted Young Chef of the Year Nicholas Deligiannis, include in-room dining and a Mediterranean-inspired rooftop restaurant, Mid Air, destined to become a local favourite. On the ground floor, acclaimed chefs Ross and Sunny Lusted of Sydney’s Woodcut debut Marmelo, a vibrant restaurant influenced by Portuguese and Spanish coastal cuisines, alongside Mr Mills, a basement bar brimming with character.
The building’s striking design seamlessly integrates Melbourne’s creative energy and cultural fabric. Its geometrically complex tinted precast panels and recessed “top-knot” glazed curtain wall reflect the play of light and shadows throughout the day. Signature circular rooftop windows, nicknamed the “eyes,” offer stunning city views and a playful, welcoming gaze visible across Melbourne.
Executive General Manager Tracy Atherton, formerly of Jackalope Hotels, leads a team of curated creatives to deliver an unparalleled experience.
“Melbourne Place will redefine the Paris-end precinct of Melbourne,” Ms Atherton said.
“Neighbouring the city’s best restaurants, bars, nightlife, and retail, it will be the place to be, offering guests a unique lifestyle and cultural experience. Situated among Melbourne’s finest, it is the ultimate location to embrace the city’s vibrancy and spirit.”
