Are you prepared for the return of international tourism markets?

ATEC virtual events prepare businesses with the new Korea Host program

The Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) announced its support of Australia’s export tourism businesses, offering to help get them into shape and ready for the returning Korean market with the newly created KOREA Host program.

Together with Tourism Australia, ATEC will run a series of virtual events this May, delivered through an interactive online learning platform featuring case studies and insights from global tourism marketing experts.

ATEC Managing Director Peter Shelley said: “ATEC’s successful Marke Host programs deliver commercially valuable learning opportunities which help export tourism businesses prepare for new markets and their needs.”

While we wait for our international borders to open, tourism businesses have the opportunity to invest in building capacity and capability for the future and ATEC Host programs can help them do just that.

The ‘KOREA HOST’ industry development program is a commercially valuable brand, endorsed by government and industry leaders of the South Korean travel trade. Korea Host is an interactive online learning program delivered in 3 x 90-minute modules including:

  1. Market & Culture Ready’ – Market update and snapshot of South Korea – the country, the people and their unique behaviours and attitudes. Spotlight on customer preferences, and tips to incorporate these discoveries into your services to satisfy this culturally diverse group of customers more effectively.
  2. ‘Product & Service Ready’ – In this module we will explore key areas for consideration when developing a range of services, products and experiences suitable for Korean travellers and to satisfy guest expectations in a COVID world.
  3. Marketing & Trade Ready’ – overview of South Korea’s travel distribution system, marketing opportunities and tips on how to develop successful Korean business relationships.

Tourism Australia Managing Director Phillipa Harrison said the new Korea Host training program provided a good opportunity for Australian tourism businesses to prepare themselves for the return of international visitors in the future.

She said: “Pre-COVID South Korea was one of Australia’s top 10 markets for both visitors and spend and we expect that in time, once travel resumes, the market will return in significant numbers.

“While international travel is on hold, it is an opportune time for Australian tourism operators to gain a competitive advantage and prepare for the future by equipping themselves with the knowledge and insights into this important tourism market.”

Korea Host is the # 1 market specific business development program and was developed by ATEC in partnership with Tourism Australia. Previous programs include Japan Host, India Host, Domestic Ready, International Ready and COVID Ready. Graduates will receive digital badging to show their market readiness which they can display at the upcoming ATE in June.
