Compulsory Gaming and Alcohol Service Certification

The hospitality industry has a constant requirement for the Responsible Service of Alcohol, Responsible Service of Gambling or the Responsible Conduct of Gambling and Food Safety Certificates.

The Responsible Service of Alcohol or RSA as it is commonly known, is a requirement for staff and persons who participate in the supply or service of alcohol. While this would include the obvious bartenders, waiters, bottle shop attendants, glass collectors and managers, it must be noted it also includes promotional staff, volunteers who have liquor service responsibilities and security officers with crowd control duties.

By taking the RSA training course, they are able to obtain knowledge on liquor legislations and penalties of Australia and identified which customers were denied alcohol service. By having passed the RSA training course, they prepared and served alcohol responsibly to customers. They helped customers drink within the appropriate limit as well as assisted alcohol affected customers who drank too much alcohol.

The Responsible Service of Gambling or the Responsible Conduct of Gambling is a requirement for anyone who is working in or around gaming machine related functions. The unit also relates to satisfying the requirements for providing responsible gambling services under state and territory legislation. It is important to note that the terms used to describe this vary across state and territory regulatory bodies and can include responsible conduct of gambling and responsible service of gaming or responsible service of gambling.

Food Safety Training is imperative within the hospitality industry. Businesses that work with food are legally required to ensure their food handling staff members acquire skills and knowledge of safety and food hygiene matters. Australia has very strict regulations and therefore it is important to ensure your staff complete the correct courses.

Hospitality food handling courses are national standards and the units that must be completed are; follow workplace hygiene procedures, implement food safety procedures and develop and implement a food safety program. Completion of all of these units would make you eligible for a level of Food Safety Supervisor position. Completion of follow workplace hygiene procedures is relevant for persons working in a kitchen, cafe, restaurant, school canteen, hotel, supermarket or food outlets or areas under supervision.

The required training can be completed via two different platforms to complete the courses; classroom based or online. Online training will always be able to provide the most up-to-date, convenient, time efficient and cost effective training option due to the nature of it being readily accessible and immediate certificate download.

With the online training option there is no waiting around for class rooms and/or trainers to be available, no more paying for expensive travel, waiting for courses to be scheduled or staff requiring time off to complete courses.

It is important to keep in mind that the Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate and Responsible Service of Gambling/Responsible Conduct of Gambling does have different certification for some states. There is no denying this has caused some confusion within the industry.

They must be completed in a classroom in NSW and Victoria, these states will update their legislation to come into line with the rest of Australia. You must ensure if you are employed within Queensland you must hold the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing approved certification.
