New Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne culinary team causes stir

Highly experienced duo to helm hotel’s F&B offering

The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne has announced highly experienced Executive Chef, Michael Greenlaw in partnership with Culinary Advisor, Mark Best, will lead its culinary team ahead of the hotel’s highly anticipated  opening next March.

With over 15 years spent in five-star hotels and Michelin-hatted establishments, Chef Greenlaw’s experience extends to London’s renowned Bibendum, Gilt in New York and closer to home, Melbourne’s own Vue de Monde.

Working alongside him, Mark Best’s culinary pedigree spans three decades.

He opened his first restaurant Peninsula Bistro in 1990, and second restaurant Marque in 1999, the latter achieved global fame and included in the San Pellegrino 50 Best Restaurants list for three successive years as well as scoring three Australian Chef Hats for a decade.

A published author, avid photographer and passionate advocate for Australian produce, Mark is widely recognised as a thought-leader and mentor in the Australian food scene.

The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne General Manager, Antony Page said he was thrilled to have culinary stars of the calibre of Michael Greenlaw and Mark Best join the hotel’s leadership team.

“With their combined talent, passion and experience, The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne’s restaurant and bars will be an exciting addition to Melbourne’s vibrant food scene,” he said.

“Our ambition is for our signature restaurant to be a must-visit destination for locals as well as our in-house guests.”
