Visual content: A gateway to guests’ hearts

Visual content is a catalyst for converting potential guests into loyal patrons. Research shows that images wield immense influence over the decision-making process. Inspired by Airbnb co-founder Brian Chesky’s wisdom, I’ve crafted a strategy to categorise images into three compelling themes that resonate with travelers worldwide.

Experiencing other cultures: Travellers seek unique experiences. I once captured kangaroos sunbathing by a man-made lagoon at Sanctuary Cove. While the scene wasn’t entirely “natural,” it still created an unforgettable experience for guests, as Brian Chesky emphasises.

Sorting out life’s direction: The allure of unplugging and rejuvenating remains strong, especially among high-net-worth individuals who still frequent Facebook. Remember, still images hold their own charm, captivating guests and sparking their curiosity about your offerings.

Reviving relationships: An emotional image of a bride with her family at Albert Mossman captured the essence of a heartwarming moment. This underlines the value of emotionally resonant visuals.

Strategies for striking visuals

Perspective play: Vary perspectives to narrate a story. Use full-length shots and close-ups of various areas, such as seating spots and decorative elements. This creates engaging content for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.

Showcasing the premises: Employ a mix of full-length premises shots and detailed close-ups. This strategy is especially effective for platforms that support stories, creating a narrative that entices viewers to explore further.

Location matters: Leverage images of local attractions, from art galleries to cafes, to create an engaging story. Utilise the rule of thirds to compose compelling location shots.

Food and Beverage: Capture culinary delights from above to emphasise textures. Highlight vibrant dishes that stand out, creating an invitation for guests to indulge. Experiment with foreground placement and background elements to evoke enjoyment and ambiance.

Guests embracing the space: Invite models or leverage platforms like “gifted” to collaborate with influencers. Share images of people relishing your premises, portraying an enticing experience.

Product collaborations: Showcase products used at your property, collaborating with brands to earn mutual exposure. Using the rule of thirds, create visually pleasing product images that resonate with both your audience and the brand’s followers.

Mastering Adobe Lightroom: This free app is your ally for enhancing photos. Utilize presets to maintain a consistent visual identity for each property. Elevate your images with before-and-after comparisons, highlighting the transformative power of Adobe Lightroom.
