Snug is a new traveller trend

Despite their small footprint, Snug rooms pack a design punch with luxe fittings, bold retro-chic and pop-art aesthetics

With the rise of the bleisure traveller (combining a work trip with a vacation) and the tremendous growth in solo travel, Ovolo South Yarra noticed a rise in the demand for smaller rooms to cater for one.

New cohort of guests

Largely sparked by an increase in remote and hybrid working opportunities, bleisure travellers are a new cohort of guests. They look to combine the best of both worlds when they travel for work.

According to data from Chase, 78 percent of millennials intentionally add leave onto a business trip and according to AMEX Global Business Travel, 57 percent of companies now have a policy for employees to extend their business trips with annual leave.

Longer stays

While an average business trip is two days, bleisure travels can extend this to six days or more as employees take the opportunity to explore a new city.

To meet this demand, Go Go City Snug was introduced at Ovolo South Yarra in 2021. With all the comfort and amenities you’d expect from the Ovolo brand, Go Go rooms offer snug and compact quarters- perfect for the solo traveller.

Downsize but don’t downgrade

Ensuring there is no downgrade even if guests downsize, Go Go Snug Room guests still have access to all of Ovolo’s signatures. They include a free mini bar in-room, complimentary breakfast options, superspeed wifi, social hour, and the guests’ favourite loot bags, plus more…

Despite their small footprint, the Snug rooms pack a design punch with luxe fittings and bold retro-chic. Plus pop-art aesthetics synonymous with the Ovolo South Yarra Brand.

“At Ovolo, we’re always evolving and tailoring our guest experiences to their wants and needs, as well as current travel trends. We’ve worked to ensure Ovolo South Yarra has the perfect fit for any type of traveller visiting Melbourne, and we’re particularly excited about our micro rooms concept for solo travellers,” Dave Baswal, CEO of Ovolo Group.

“With the introduction of the Go Go Snug rooms, bleisure travellers do not need to compromise on luxury as they are designed with Ovolo’s effortless living philosophy in mind.”

Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street has also embraced the needs of solo travellers through their King Guest Room. A modern and heritage-inspired interior with blackout blinds, a rain shower and a work space nestled in the rooms corner. Hilton LQS’s King Guest Room has everything a busy traveller needs for a fast-paced trip without compromising on luxury.
