TFE Hotels has proudly announced the appointment of esteemed hotelier Chris Kemlo as the new General Manager of The Calile Hotel in Brisbane.

Bringing over 18 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Kemlo is poised to lead The Calile team with a focus on enhancing guest experiences, fostering strong interpersonal connections, and driving business success.

The Calile Hotel, now celebrating its fifth year and recently crowned Best Hotel in Oceania in The World’s 50 Best Hotels, continues its commitment to providing unparalleled hospitality for its discerning clientele.

Reflecting on his new role, Kemlo expressed his excitement, stating, “There weren’t many hotels in Australia that would’ve been able to spark my interest like The Calile did. Not only is Queensland a beautiful place to bring up a young family, but The Calile is a stunning property with a team that are equally passionate about representing the brand.

Kemlo’s extensive background includes 14 years at Crown Resorts, where he garnered a reputation for delivering exceptional customer service and driving business excellence. His leadership roles at luxury properties such as Crown Towers Sydney and Crown Melbourne have prepared him well for the challenges and opportunities at The Calile.

“My job will be to take a guest approach, people approach, and a business approach to make sure we have the right systems and operational processes in place,” Kemlo explained. “This, in turn, will further enhance the already highly regarded guest experience and take us to the next level.”

TFE Hotels’ Group Chief Operating Officer, Chris Sedgwick, praised Kemlo’s leadership qualities and expertise, stating, “Chris’ exceptional leadership skills, attention to detail and service, along with his commercial acumen, were a strong fit for The Calile. His experience in the luxury sector is certainly a welcome addition to the team.

Kemlo officially assumed his role at The Calile last month, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success. His contributions to the pre-opening phases of luxury properties such as Sofitel Queenstown and Crown Melbourne and Crown Sydney hotels have been instrumental in their successful establishment and launch.
