The collaboration introduces Pier One Sydney Harbour as Exceptional ALIEN’s first hotel partner, enhancing the traditional guest experience by offering personalised, local insights that help travellers bypass the challenges of information overload and dubious online reviews.

Guests are offered a “key to the city,” unlocking 20 carefully chosen local highlights, from exclusive arts and cultural experiences to food hotspots, scenic views, and even dog-friendly spots for travellers bringing pets to Sydney’s most pet-welcoming hotel.

The interactive concierge is triggered via a QR code, displayed at multiple touchpoints throughout the guest journey. Guests can scan the code from a pre-arrival email, in-room key wallets, entertainment screens, and with support from Pier One’s staff.

Curated with input from Pier One’s Chief Concierge Eugene Chang, a Les Clefs d’Or member, the recommendations reflect both local expertise and the unparalleled knowledge of the hotel’s dedicated concierge team.

Since its recent launch, the interactive concierge has seen a warm reception, with more than 85 percent of guests engaging with the service within the first two days and an average engagement time of approximately 1.5 minutes per user. Pier One Sydney Harbour’s General Manager, Kim Mahaffy, notes, “Our partnership with Exceptional ALIEN brings trusted local knowledge together with a seamless technology-led experience that perfectly aligns with our goal to connect travellers with a real and authentic side of Sydney.”

The collaboration also leverages the growing creator economy, now valued at $200 billion globally. Today’s travellers seek personalised experiences that reflect local culture and insights, a trend reflected by Exceptional ALIEN’s approach. “Pier One Sydney Harbour is ahead of the curve in its offering of local experiences that meet guests in the moment,” says Michael Canning, Founding Partner of Exceptional ALIEN.

Furthering this creative vision, Pier One is welcoming a line-up of creators to stay at the hotel and contribute their recommendations through their curated “Travel Playbooks.” One such creator, Australian singer-songwriter G-Flip, shared personal insights into Sydney’s vibrant music scene following a stay at the hotel.
