Newcastle club expansion includes motel
A 46-room motel is part of a major expansion of the Wallsend Diggers Club in Newcastle.
According to CEO John Hume, the club has lodged plans with Newcastle Council to build a $13 million expansion to its premises that would include a new bar, entertainment area and a 46-room motel.
The club hopes to start construction in early 2015.
Mr Hume says the motel will provide more jobs for the area, during construction and once it is operational. “We believe it will bring people into the area and help with their income for their business as well.”
