And now that Toyota feeling towers
Everyone is wanting to get into the high rise apartment market. Now Toyota has lodged plans for a huge four-tower development on a city block part-occupied by its city dealership in Melbourne.
The ambitious apartment project will enable the car maker to retain its prime city showroom in the heritage-listed Melford Motors building on the corner of Elizabeth and Queensbury streets while refurbishing the building and adding four residential towers rising to 22 levels above it and the company-owned service centre and open car lot next door.
Plans lodged last week show the SJB Architect-designed complex will have 1090 apartments, a public gym, a 1413m² car showroom, a supermarket, a cafe and restaurants.
Toyota’s proposal is being overseen by Sydney-based Lefta Corporation.
