First regional Punthill property in NSW to open

Veriu Group & Panthera Group collaborate on Punthill Maitland launch

In a significant expansion move, Veriu Group, Australia’s fastest-growing apartment hotel operator, has unveiled its third NSW property, Punthill Maitland, on August 5, 2024. This launch marks the first hotel brand debut in Maitland in over a decade and represents Veriu Group’s inaugural venture into regional New South Wales.

Strategically located at 373 High Street, close to Maitland’s commercial centre, Punthill Maitland features 76 modern apartments designed to cater to solo and group travellers, both for business and leisure. The accommodations include a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, with options for interconnecting and accessible rooms.

Each apartment is equipped with a fully functional kitchen, a desk, high-speed internet, smart televisions with streaming capabilities, in-room laundry facilities, and secure on-site parking. The property also boasts a spacious 100sqm conference room and a well-equipped gymnasium, enhancing its appeal for both short and extended stays.

Maitland, situated at the gateway to the renowned Hunter Valley region, is an ideal location for the new property.

The town offers a diverse culinary scene, ranging from casual cafes to upscale dining, along with numerous shops and entertainment venues. Historical and cultural sites, such as the Maitland Showground and the Maitland Regional Art Gallery, are within walking distance, making the hotel a convenient choice for both leisure and corporate travellers. Additionally, Maitland Hospital and the town’s business parks are easily accessible, further highlighting the hotel’s strategic placement.

Punthill Maitland

Veriu Group CEO Zed Sanjana expressed his excitement about the new opening: “We’re extremely pleased to have added Punthill Maitland to our existing portfolio.

“We chose Maitland for our first regional property due to its rapid growth and the significant commercial developments in the area. Despite this growth, there has been a lack of quality corporate accommodation, which our new property aims to address. The strong forward bookings we’ve received demonstrate the high demand for such accommodations.”

The partnership with Panthera Group, known for its expertise in high-quality mixed-use developments, has been instrumental in bringing Punthill Maitland to fruition.

Panthera Group CEO Mario Evangelo reflected on their contributions to the Maitland community: “We take pride in our past projects, including our ownership of Maitland Central. Our collaboration with Veriu Group and Mars Building has brought about transformative changes, including the introduction of this much-needed regional hotel.”

The opening of Punthill Maitland is just the beginning of an active year for Veriu Group, with several other projects nearing completion. Upcoming openings include Punthill Sunshine in Melbourne’s west, Punthill Tuggeranong in the ACT, and Veriu Macquarie Park in Sydney. Veriu Group remains committed to expanding the Punthill apartment hotel model across NSW, with more regional openings planned in the coming years.

As tourism in the Hunter Valley region experiences a resurgence post-pandemic, the addition of Punthill Maitland is poised to significantly boost local tourism and provide a valuable accommodation option for visitors.

Sanjana concluded, “Tourism in the Hunter region is on the rise, and we’re excited to be a part of that growth.”

Further announcements regarding new Punthill and Veriu hotels across Australia are expected from Veriu Group in the coming months.
