Vibe Hotel to arrive in Melbourne’s Docklands

Hot on the heels of Marvel Stadium’s planned $250M upgrade, TFE Hotels announced they will begin operating the soon-to-be-rebranded 273-room Vibe Hotel Melbourne Docklands

Melbourne’s Docklands precinct is buzzing with anticipation as TFE Hotels gears up to take the helm of the soon-to-be-rebranded Vibe Hotel Melbourne Docklands and Storehouse Docklands restaurant, slated to open its doors on April 8 under new ownership by MA Financial Group.

TFE Hotels’ Group Chief Operating Officer, Chris Sedgwick, highlighted the burgeoning excitement in Docklands, emphasising the precinct’s transformation set to benefit from increased investment. With roots already firmly planted in Docklands through the mid-scale Travelodge brand on Aurora Lane, TFE Hotels is poised to elevate the area’s hospitality offerings with this latest venture.

The announcement comes amidst a flurry of development activity in Docklands, with Marvel Stadium leading the charge with a planned $250 million upgrade aimed at enhancing visitor experiences and expanding civic spaces for community events. Development Victoria and the AFL have also joined forces to create a mixed-use development, while MAB’s proposed five-storey tower development promises to further enrich the area’s landscape.

Sedgwick highlighted the significance of these developments in revitalising the precinct.

He said: “These exciting developments – together with the precinct’s tourism attractions, art trail, winter fireworks extravaganza, and strong event calendar, including Firelight Festival and the return of the Melbourne Boat Show – will help reinvigorate the precinct for visitors and locals alike.

“And TFE Hotels will be well placed to ensure visitors have world-class accommodation and dining experiences when they stay.”

The addition of the 273-room Vibe Melbourne Docklands, formerly the Sheraton Four Points, signifies a strategic move by TFE and MA Financial Group to capitalise on Docklands’ revitalisation efforts.

MA Financial Group’s Managing Director, Anthony O’Hea said: “We’re thrilled to build on our substantial hospitality investment portfolio with this new acquisition. Hotels in Australia have seen a dramatic post-COVID recovery, with hotel revenues in line with, or exceeding, pre-COVID levels despite international short-term visitor arrivals having only recovered to approximately 75 percent of their volume. This combination of resilience, current asset pricing, and the opportunity for more growth makes for a compelling investment proposition.”

Nestled within walking distance of Marvel Stadium, shopping precincts, and harborside dining, Vibe Hotel Melbourne Docklands promises guests a world-class experience. With dedicated conference spaces, leisure facilities, and breathtaking views of the Yarra River and Melbourne skyline, the hotel is poised to become a beacon of hospitality excellence in Docklands.

As Docklands prepares to usher in a new era of growth and prosperity, the debut of Vibe Hotel Melbourne Docklands marks a significant milestone in the precinct’s ongoing evolution. With its upscale offerings and prime location, the hotel is poised to set a new standard for luxury accommodation in Melbourne’s vibrant waterfront district.

The hotel will begin operating under TFE management from 8 April 2024.
