Huskisson Crowned Australia’s Top Tiny Tourism Town at 2024 Awards
The Tiny Tourism Town award celebrates towns with a population under 1500 that offer world-class visitor experiences
Huskisson has been awarded the title of Australia’s Top Tiny Tourism Town at the Australia’s Top Tourism Town Awards 2024. This accolade follows the town’s earlier success, where it was recognised as NSW’s Top Tiny Tourism Town.
The Tiny Tourism Town award celebrates towns with a population under 1500 that offer world-class visitor experiences while actively driving tourism growth.
Steve Cox, CEO of Destination NSW, congratulated Huskisson, stating: “Huskisson is a jewel of the NSW South Coast, beloved by outdoor enthusiasts and food lovers. The region is a powerhouse for tourism, with domestic visitors contributing $4.2 billion to the local economy as of March 2024.”
The prestigious awards, announced in Canberra, also saw Devonport, Tasmania, named Australia’s Top Tourism Town, and Exmouth, WA, take the title of Small Tourism Town.
Erin McLeod, CEO of the Australian Tourism Industry Council, highlighted the charm of the winning towns, describing them as “treasure troves of unique experiences.” Meanwhile, Awards Chairman Shaun de Bruyn emphasised the awards’ role in promoting regional tourism, noting the economic benefits tourism brings to these communities.
Australia’s Top Tourism Town Awards are part of the Quality Tourism Framework, which supports regional businesses in enhancing their quality, accessibility, and sustainability.
