Luxury lodge, meetings venue for McLaren Vale
An application for a five star resort in South Australia’s McLaren Vale has been lodged with Onkaparinga Council.
Developer Barrie Stacey has submitted revised plans for the Seaview Rd site that would now have 25 hotel rooms, 16 three-bedroom cottages, a function centre, restaurant and day spa.
Mr Stacey originally received approval in 2009 to build a 100-apartment resort with a conference centre and restaurant across the 16ha site but these were dropped because of the GFC.
Mr Stacey said a smaller “boutique-style” development would be “better suited to this economic climate”.
“The crucial part of this development is that it can be done in stages,” he said.
The plans were released for public consultation earlier this month and will be considered by the council’s Development Assessment Panel in the coming weeks.
