Hotel approved for Sydney airport redevelopment

Deputy prime minister and minister for infrastructure and regional development Warren Truss has approved a major development plan for Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport.

The plan includes a 430-room 4 to 5 star hotel with conference facilities on the eastern corner of Seventh Street extension and Qantas Drive.

Mr Truss said he is satisfied Sydney Airport’s ground access solutions and hotel major development plan has fulfilled requirements of the Airport Act 1996.

The Major Development Plan includes the development of the first airport hotel for the domestic terminal precinct,” Mr Truss said. “Sydney Airport intends to begin works immediately and it is anticipated construction will take three years.
